Ryan E. Kress

Founder, President/CEO

Ryan Kress is the Founder and President/ CEO of Capital Solutions & Advisory Corporation and Chain Retail Capital, Inc.  Mr. Kress previously served as Co-Founder and Managing Director of leading chain retail investment bank, Franchise Capital Advisors (“FCA”), from April 2005 to December 2019.  Prior to forming FCA, he served as Vice President of Structured Finance with GE Commercial Finance (“GEFF”).  He began his career with Franchise Finance Corporation of America (“FFCA”) in 1999 before it was acquired by GE Commercial Finance in 2001. Mr. Kress served in various underwriting and origination positions including Financial Analyst, Investment & Credit Analyst, and Corporate Finance Associate.

Mr. Kress attended W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University majoring in Finance and Accounting. He previously served on the Advisory Board for Pinnacle Bank and was a member of the Scottsdale Active 20-30 Club. Ryan is an Arizona native and currently resides in North Scottsdale with his wife Bianca and their three children.

Hal Smith Restaurant Group

In 1973, he joined Steak & Ale Restaurant Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pillsbury, as a manager trainee before being named president and COO and ultimately chairman and CEO, as well as a vice president of Pillsbury. His next ventures included roles as president and COO of Chili’s and chairman and CEO of Chi Chi’s Mexican Restaurants.

In 1992, he ventured out on his own and founded Hal Smith Restaurants, a restaurant management company headquartered in Norman. Multiple restaurant concepts followed, including Charleston’s Restaurant, Red Rock Canyon Grill, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, Krispy Kreme, Ted’s Café Escondido, Louie’s Bar & Grill, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, The Garage, Upper Crust, and Pub W. Today Hal Smith Restaurants operates more than 60 restaurants in seven states, employing more than 6,000.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Scott Barnett was the Co-Founder, President and CEO of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants, the casual seafood chain, since its inception in 1996.   The San Clemente, Calif., company operated 22 Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurants in the United States and had 11 franchise and joint-venture locations in other countries.  Barnett was responsible for the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants, The Mai Tai Bar nightclubs, Capi’s Italian Kitchen and The Newport Beach Rusty Pelican.  The company was sold to Landry's in 2010 for $120 million.  Prior to Bubba Gump, Scott served as CFO then President & CEO of Rusty Pelican Restaurants.  “Scott is the most gifted restaurant executive I’ve met,” said Gordon Miles, a well respected restaurant industry veteran.  Scott currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lawry's Restaurants.
